Explicando o texto da escritura com a própria doutrina do espiritismo, o autor, segundo Blake, estabelece como princípio que Jesus Cristo não foi Deus, mas um espírito com a forma humana aparente, corpo fluídico, embora visível e tangível, e em relação imediata com Deus; e neste princípio se firma todo estudo e interpretação da escritura.
