Segundo Borba de Moraes, a obra foi traduzida por Nicholas Lichefield, que provavelmente é Thomas Nicholas, renomado tradutor da Era Tudor. A edição é dedicada a Drake e contém somente o primeiro livro e, diferentemente do que conta o tradutor no livro, a obra parece ter sida traduzida do Francês, e não do Português. Esse é um dos poucos livros em Português que foi traduzido para o Inglês na época.
