    Gramático. Segundo o DGLAB, foi "genealogista e filólogo do século XVII. Estudou Letras em especial História, e Matemática, no Colégio de Santo Antão, e dedicou-se à pesquisa genealógica nos arquivos da corte e na Torre do Tombo. Com o mesmo objetivo, foi viver para Madri, onde se encontrava por alturas da revolução de 1640, não deixando de reconhecer Filipe IV como rei de Portugal. Autor de uma obra apologética da língua portuguesa, anima-o certamente, à semelhança de João de Barros com a sua Gramática, o propósito de identificação e expansão de uma língua nacional."
