    Religioso, professor, gramático, sermonista. Segundo o DGLAB, "presbítero secular, foi professor de Retórica e Poética em Penafiel. Grande amigo do Pe. Teodoro de Almeida, quis, como ele, fazer parte da Congregação do Oratório, tendo professado em 1793. Foi pregador e sócio da Academia Real das Ciências. Foi um notável filólogo, tendo contribuído de uma forma importante para o Dicionário da Academia e para um Dicionário das Palavras Que do Século XVI para cá Se Tem Aportuguesado, ambos desaparecidos no incêndio que consumiu o Tesouro Público em 1836."
